The Fort Worth Weekly said of Devin's live show, "The singer songwriter is a one man wrecking crew at live performances."
Devin's first real gig was at the Texas Heritage Music Festival in Kerville Tx with legendary songwriter Townes Van Zandt. Townes let Devin play his guitar and gave him songwriting advice. He then went on to be a crowd favorite at the Johnny High show along side LeAnn Rimes and Steve Holy. This led to an chance to open for the Dixie Chicks. Which led to an opportunity to learn songwriting from Ray Winkler, who wrote 'Welcome to my World" covered by Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, and many others. The next chapter was lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter of the neo-rockabilly band Hillbilly Cafe, which won several Fort Worth music awards including Band of the Year, best rock band, and best country band. They also had the honor of backing up rockabilly legends Gene Summers and Mac Curtis. After they parted ways, Devin began a new chapter of his career playing lead guitar for other artists including Texas music scene fixtures such as Bleu Edmondson(Billboard charting artist), Jason Eady(Rolling Stone top 10 artists to watch), Max Stalling(Texas Country Music Hall of Fame), and one of the biggest acts currently in Texas, Mike Ryan. Pat Green asked him to play on his “Carry On” album, and as a special guest at live shows.
Playing lead guitar over the years allowed Devin to truly hone his guitar playing skills to become "one of the town's best guitarists" (fortlive.com). In fact, in 2016, he was awarded one of the most prestigious honors a Texas guitar player can earn, being named a Texas Tornado by Buddy Magazine alongside guitar legends like Stevie Ray Vaughn and Johnny Winter. USA Today ranked Bleu Edmondson's song “Last Last Time” as a buzzworthy song and gave props to Devin's guitar solo. In 2010, he began his solo career, and over the following years developed his unique, countrified, rocking blues sound that has garnered him a healthy slew of awards including a Hollywood Music in Media Award, a Josie Show Award, a Global Music award, an Atlas music award, and an Akademia award.
